Car falls 45 feet, injuring two, during crash in Galax

GALAX, Va. ( WFXR ) – Galax Fire Department reports two people were rescued after falling almost 45 feet off an embankment during a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Riverside Driver on August 31.

Fire officials said that around 8 p.m. on Saturday, emergency personnel found a single passenger vehicle that ran off the roadway upon arrival at the scene on the 1800 Block of Riverside Driver.

The vehicle went over an embankment and dropped approximately 45 ft with two people trapped inside. Independence Fire was working to rescue the occupants when Galax Rescue 4 arrived to assist in the extraction of the last occupant.

Both victims were taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
