    Early voting in Virginia: What you need to know

    ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) – The Virginia Department of Elections is giving tips on early voting for the November 5 general Presidential Election.

    Early voting is around the corner starting on Friday, September 20 with the last day to vote on Saturday, November 2.

    Some locations may offer early voting in other areas, however, all general poll offices offer early voting. Voters may look up places where they can vote or contact the General Registrar for more information.

    Will younger votes turn out?

    Polling locations will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on election day meaning any person in line will be eligible to vote.

    Voters who go in person will have to provide a credible form of identification when arriving at the polls. Under the Virginia law, voters are only allowed to vote in favor of one political party.

    • Chesapeake
    • Chesterfield County
    • Fairfax County
    • Fauquier County
    • Goochland County
    • Henrico County
    • King and Queen County
    • Loudoun County
    • Montgomery County
    • Newport News
    • Norfolk
    • Nottoway County
    • Prince William
    • Richmond (City)
    • Roanoke County
    • Spotsylvania County
    • Virginia Beach
    • Wise County
    • York County

    When does early voting begin in my state?

    The deadline to register to vote or update previous registration is October 15. The deadline for a ballot to be mailed to a voter is October 25 and the request to receive a ballot must be received at your local voter registration office by 5:00 p.m.
