Henry County single-car crash kills 66-year-old male

HENRY COUNTY, Va. ( WFXR ) – Virginia State Police are investigating after a single-vehicle crash killed a man from Axton in Henry County on September 17.

The deadly crash occurred on Tuesday, around 10:53 p.m. on Route 57 at the intersection of Route 1649.

A 1998 Land Rover was driving on Route 57 when the driver ran off the side of the road, hitting an embankment and causing the vehicle to overturn.

66-year-old Ray D. Smith, of Axton, was not wearing his seatbelt and died on the scene.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
