    100th Annual Heart walk in Danville-Pittsylvania

    DANVILLE, Va. ( WFXR ) – The American Heart Association is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its annual Heart Walk with the Danville-Pittsylvania area.

    The walk will take place on Saturday, September 21 with registration opening at 9 a.m. and the walk starting at 10 a.m.

    The funds raised at the event will help fight the number 1 and 5 killers of Americans which are heart disease and stroke.

    Lynchburg Heart Walk: Making a difference one step at a time

    Senior Director of Development for the American Heart Association, Elizabeth Vail said, “We are so excited to celebrate our 100 th anniversary with the Danville-Pittsylvania area, as so many of us in this region have been impacted by heart disease and stroke”

    “We always look forward to seeing all of the smiling faces of our community teams, volunteers, sponsors, and, of course, our survivors,” said Vail.

    Area sponsors include Goodyear Danville, Centra , Intertape Polymer Group , Atlantic Union Bank , First Citizens Bank , Woodall Auto- Danville , Danville Life-Saving Crew , Sovah Health , and Sentra .

    Vail added, “We can’t say thanks enough to our many generous sponsors and incredible community partners. They’ve made this year’s Heart Walk a success and, without them, our mission to save lives couldn’t happen.”

    WFXR recognized for continued community work with American Heart Association

    Vail is reminding participants in the walk to wear Red Caps for heart survivors and White Caps for stroke survivors.

    “If you want to know why you help, just look at our Red Cap and White Cap survivors, who are made up of all ages, from men and women to children,” Vail said.  “They are all the motivation you need to help further our mission.”
