HENRY COUNTY, Va. ( WFXR ) – Two men were arrested on Saturday following a police chase through Henry County.

At 2:11 p.m., a deputy with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office recognized a white Buick who was allegedly involved in a larceny at a local business.

The deputy followed the suspect’s vehicle along Greensboro Road to Highway 87 south of North Carolina.

The Sheriff’s Office says the Buick allegedly sped up and was driving recklessly.

The deputy performed a P.I.T. maneuver on the suspect’s car, causing the vehicle to slide into an embankment near the intersection of Highway 87 and Vista View Lane.

The pursuing deputy exited his car to approach the suspect and was pinned between the suspect’s car and his own when the suspect’s vehicle slid forward.

The suspect, later identified as Carlton Haizlip, 35, of Eden, North Carolina, exited the vehicle and escaped on foot.

Two other people were discovered inside the original vehicle.

One was identified as Ronald Haizlip, who had a warrant for his arrest out of Eden, North Carolina for eluding police.

He was arrested and is being held in the Henry County Adult Detention Center awaiting extradition.

A woman in the car was released and not charged for the incident.

Carlton Haizlip was later discovered in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina after allegedly stealing a car from a location in Ridgeway, Virginia.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department was able to locate and arrest Haizlip, who was taken into custody and charged with eluding police, assault on law enforcement, and larceny of a motor vehicle.

He is awaiting extradition back to Henry County.

The deputy who was injured after being pinned between the two cars was transported to SOVA Health of Martinsville where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and has been released.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information relating to the incident is asked to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
