ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) – Showers and storms will move over the region this evening. There is a threat some storms could be strong with 40 mph wind gusts and pea-size hail and severe with 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. The strongest storms will likely remain west of the Blue Ridge.

Showers and storms may continue overnight and through midday Wednesday.

Wednesday’s temperatures will fall in a narrow range from the 60s in the morning into the 70s to around 80 in the afternoon.

It looks like showers and storms will increase in probability late in the week due to remnants from expected Hurricane Helene.

Helene is expected to make landfall near Florida’s Big Bend and then travel north. It looks like storm remnants will stay to our west.

The tropical weather is fluid and we are tracking multiple possibilities.
