    Police charged man with murder in Taylor Street stabbing death investigation

    LYNCHBURG, Va. ( WFXR ) – The Lynchburg Police have charged a man with second-degree murder in connection to the stabbing death of a 65-year-old man that occurred on October 8.

    LPD has identified 31-year-old Devon Clemente Thomas of Lynchburg as the person of interest who was detained after the body of Clifford Carter was found stabbed to death behind at a home on Taylor Street early Tuesday morning.

    Thomas was previously taken into custody on a disorderly call and has since been charged with the following:

    • Second-degree Murder
    • Possession of Schedule I or II Controlled Substance
    • Two Counts of Vandalism/Property Damage
    • Served with an Outstanding Charge of Contempt of Court (Failure to Appear)

    Thomas is currently being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.
