DANVILLE, Va. ( WFXR ) – The Danville Police Department will host a DEA National Drug Take Back Day.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Danville Toyota located at 125 Piedmont Place.

This event will help Americans get rid of unnecessary and unused medications whether they are old, not wanted, or expired, which can increase addictions.

Take Back Day is a free anonymous disposal that will include 5,000 local drop-off locations.

Local law enforcement is partnering with this event to remove tons of medications.

The collection sites will not take syringes, sharps, or illicit drugs. If there are any liquid medications, they must be sealed in the original container to prevent leaks.
