Pinpoint Weather: Cool and breezy starts the week

A cold front this evening may initiate isolated strong to severe storms west of I-81 as it passes. The Storm Prediction Center has the area in a Marginal risk for isolated severe storms. This is the lowest risk level. Damaging wind is the greatest threat.

Tonight will be breezy with wind gusts around 25 mph. Monday will be breezy as well as cooler air spills in from the northwest.

Monday morning will be in the mid-40s to mid-50s with afternoon temperatures ranging from 54 to 68 west to east across the region.

Temperatures will be more uniform as cool air settles in for the week. Next week will likely warm up to around or slightly above normal.

There is a chance of some mountain showers on Tuesday and Tuesday night. Some models suggest the showers may scatter more broadly across the region later in the day. Otherwise, the week will be mostly dry with dry weather likely to continue.

Fall fire season begins Tuesday and runs through November 30th. This period is usually breezy and dry. The ground in many areas is still saturated due to the recent heavy rainfall. However, the wind will help to dry the surface plants and leaf debris.
