    LPD charged man with felony in animal cruelty investigation

    LYNCHBURG, Va. ( WFXR ) – Lynchburg Police says they have made a felony arrest of a man in connection to an animal cruelty investigation after allegedly finding a dog dead at a home in September 2024.

    According to the LPD, on Friday, September 27, the Lynchburg Police Department’s Animal Control Unit responded to the 1500 Block of Bedford Avenue after a dead dog was found in the backyard.

    Investigators obtained a search warrant, and a thorough search was conducted on the property.

    The deceased dog was removed, and a necropsy was performed, allegedly providing critical evidence for investigators. 28-year-old Quentin Calhoun-Pope of Lynchburg was then identified as the suspect.

    On October 11, Calhoun-Pope was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with Felony Animal Cruelty .

    He is currently being held at the Lynchburg Blue Ridge Regional Jail.
