    UVA Men’s Basketball Head Coach, Tony Bennett retiring after 15 seasons

    CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. ( WFXR ) – The University of Virginia ( UVA ) has announced men’s basketball head coach, Tony Bennett will be retiring.

    Bennett has been with UVA for 15 seasons and was named ACC Coach of the Year in 2014, 2015, 2018, and 2019. He boasts a winning record of 364-136 with an overall record of 433-169 overall record in 18 seasons.

    In 2019 he led the Cavaliers to an NCAA Championship, as well as two ACC Tournament titles, six ACC regular-season championships, and 10 more NCAA tournament appearances. He also has a pair of NCAA tournament appearances at Washington State from 2007-09.

    Bennett will make a formal announcement during a press conference scheduled for Friday, Oct. 18 at 11 a.m. at the John Paul Jones Arena dining hall.
