ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) – The Anthem Go Outside Festival (GoFest) is back.

Friday through Sunday, people will flock to downtown Roanoke to enjoy some of the outdoor activities this event has to offer.

“I’m stoked,” Kat Andrew, the volunteer coordinator at GoFest, said. “I look forward to the Anthem Go Outside Festival all year.”

All signs point towards perfect weather, so that could positively influence the crowd.

“Last year, we had about 40,000 people,” Kait Pedigo, the event manager for GoFest, said. “This year, we have great weather, so we’re expecting somewhere in that same ballpark.”

Once again, the festival’s base camp will be at Elmwood Park. Visitors can bring their pets and enjoy live music, fun outdoor activities, and guest appearances.

Organizers are also excited to announce this festival will look a little different this year.

“We’ve got a handful of first-time things that are happening,” Pedigo said. “I’m so excited to see how they come together, and how folks like them.”

Two of the new additions include an activity center in front of the Freedom First building mural, and the adventure outpost at Explore Park.

These along with all the other events, are designed to get people to enjoy spending time outside.

198 miles of Blue Ridge Parkway now reopened

“I truly believe that it makes for a happier, healthier community when you get outside, get into nature and move your body, and be active,” Andrew said.

People are also encouraged to bring any warm clothes they are no longer using. GoFest is holding a clothing drive, and all assets will be donated to communities in western North Carolina, as part of Hurricane Helene relief.

In addition, some of the revenue from beverage sales will be donated to western North Carolina communities.
