    Showers, storms could impact graduation ceremony for North Oconee High School

    ATLANTA, Ga. — We’re tracking rain showers and the potential for storms in north Georgia Friday.

    Officials with Oconee County Schools posted a statement to social media Friday confirming the showers and storms could impact the graduation ceremony for North Oconee High School.

    “We are closely monitoring the weather and will make a decision regarding tonight’s graduation ceremony no later than 5 p.m.,” officials wrote. “Information will be emailed to graduates and posted on social media. Graduation currently remains scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Titan Stadium.”

    Experts forecast the severe weather risk could increase overnight and into Saturday.

    • Much cooler today with highs mainly in the low 70s
    • An isolated storm possible late today south
    • Severe weather risk goes up overnight and especially into tomorrow as a warm front lifts north
    • Rain with embedded isolated strong and severe storms possible: damaging wind gusts, hail (brief tornado risk should stay to our south)
    • A few lingering showers Sunday
    • Drier and warmer early next week
