The Galesburg School Board may be done, for all intents and purposes, with Derrek Blackwell. The board Monday night voted to approve what was termed a “resignation agreement” with Blackwell, a now-former Silver Streaks head football coach and school safety and security officer. IL Secretary of State says libraries are eligible for technology upgrade grants. Which libraries are eligible around here?
Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias is doling out money to libraries in this area and others to help with technology enhancements. 113 libraries in the state are eligible to get either $12,500, or $27,500, based on population, to upgrade technology – things like more e-resources, better wi-fi, assuring that library websites are Americans with Disabilities Act compliant, and other things.

Cleanup continues at downtown Galesburg fire site. Materials being sorted and recycled
A local recycling company has started the process of hauling away and sorting a variety of materials from the site of a downtown Galesburg fire. Rob Benedict, owner of USA Recycling, tells WGIL his company began hauling materials from the site on Main and Prairie streets today to an EPA approved and permitted temporary sorting location at 1480 S. Henderson St.
