Cicada Watch! Here’s where cicadas have been spotted across Chicago area

CHICAGO — Ready or not, here they come! Cicada sightings have already been reported in parts of Indiana and Illinois, including here in the Chicago area.

But this is just the beginning, soon millions among billions of them will emerge from the ground.

Here in Illinois, two broods of periodical cicadas will come out. In central and southern Illinois, its the 13-year cicadas. In central and northern Illinois, it’s the 17-year cicadas.

WGN’s Marcus Leshock has been showcasing viewer’s cicada sightings from across the area.

Here are where the insects have been spotted, so far:
