    Funeral services Thursday for fallen Cook County Sheriff’s deputy Rafael Wordlaw

    CHICAGO —  The Cook County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday announced services for fallen correctional officer Rafael Wordlaw.

    Visitations for Wordlaw, who died Tuesday, July 30, amid an attempted armed robbery at a Woodlawn-area gas station, will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Leak and Sons Funeral Home on Pulaski Road in Country Club Hills.

    A wake and funeral will occur on Friday morning, Aug. 9, at the St Mark Mission Baptist church in Harvey.

    Worldaw will be laid to rest at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Chicago. He would have turned 32 this week.

    Cordarrow Thompson, 32, of Chicago faces various felony charges in connection with Wordlaw’s shooting death, including first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery, and attempted armed robbery.
