    Street closures begin ahead of Democratic National Convention

    CHICAGO — Street closures and security measures have begun as Chicago prepares to host the Democratic National Convention.

    Crews started early Monday morning setting up fencing along the streets near the United Center.

    The rolling closures are as follows:

    • Washington Boulevard: Between Damen and Wood
    • Wolcott Avenue: Between Washington and Warren
    • Paulina Street: Between Monroe and Adams

    Parking is not allowed in these areas as of Monday morning.

    It is all part the security perimeter.

    The perimeter is going to consist of two zones. The Red Zone will be for credentialed personnel on while the Yellow Zone will be open to the public—but security checks will be required.

    Full closures in these areas around the United Center and McCormick Place begin Friday.
