    Saturday Forecast: Sweltering heat hits the Chicago area

    CHICAGO — Headed out this weekend? Make sure to pack the sunscreen and stay hydrated because the sweltering heat is going to be hitting Chicagoland all weekend long.

    Today

    The multi-day warm-up continues, building toward late season heat. The day looks to be partly sunny, with it getting quite warm inland with rising humidity.

    Light onshore lake breezes keep area beaches in the mid-80’s, while the warmest inland locations top out in the lower 90’s.

    High: Near 90.

    Winds: S 5-10 mph, with moderate air quality today.

    Tonight

    The evening will feature increasing cloudiness, with warm, noticeably more humid temperatures sticking around. Scattered thunderstorms may impact up to 30% of the metro area by Sunday morning.

    Low: 71.

    Extended outlook calls for more summer sizzle on Monday and Tuesday with highs in the mid to upper 90s. Heat index values 100-110 degrees with a slight chance of showers/t’storms. Cooler for Wednesday with highs in the mid to upper 80s and partly sunny skies. Widespread showers/t’storms look to return by Thursday.
