Police search for driver involved in deadly hit-and-run crash on Near North Side

CHICAGO — A search is underway for a driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash that unfolded on the city’s Near North Side earlier this month.

According to Chicago police, the crash occurred just after 4 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10. in the 1300 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive.

Officers said the victim had initially been struck by a vehicle while in the street, afterward the driver of the car pulled over and reported the crash to police and stayed on the scene.

Shortly after the first crash, a second vehicle, which was headed northbound in the right lane, struck the victim a second time but did not stop.

According to police, the victim suffered fatal injuries as a result of the second crash.

On Sunday morning, Chicago police shared a photo of the vehicle involved in the crash, which was captured by surveillance cameras, as the search continues for the driver responsible.

Officers say they believe the vehicle was a white four-door sedan with a moon roof and front end damage. Police added that the car may be a 2017-2020 Lincoln Continental.

Police said the car was last seen driving in the 400 block of East Grand Avenue and the 300 block of East Grand Avenue.
