$1.7 million Fast Play lottery win makes history in Alsip

COOK COUNTY, Ill. — An Illinois Lottery player earlier this week won a nearly $1.7 million jackpot and helped make history: the ticket sold was the largest Fast Play jackpot sold at a retailer, lottery officials said.

The winning Ultimate Diamond Jackpot game ticket worth $1,691,719 was won Tuesday and purchased at a Speedway store on West 127th Street, in Alsip. It was the largest Fast Play jackpot won in retail and the third highest Fast Play jackpot ever won in Illinois, behind a $2.7 million jackpot won in June and a $1.7 million jackpot won last month, a release from the Illinois Lottery said.

All three of the Fast Play jackpots were won with Ultimate Diamond Jackpot, a $30 progressive jackpot game. The jackpot begins at $75,000 and grows with each ticket sold in stores throughout the state and online until the jackpot is won.

The Fast Play program offers more than 25 games with varying prices and play styles. Tickets can be purchased in stores or purchased and played online or with the Illinois Lottery mobile application.

More than nine million winning Fast Play tickets have been sold so far in 2024, the release said. Players have won more than $178 million in prizes.

The Illinois Lottery was founded in 1974. Since last year, proceeds go to the state’s Common School Fund and other causes as directed by statute. The Illinois Lottery website details how the money is used.
