Inbound Dan Ryan Expressway reopened after fatal crash investigation at 71st Street

CHICAGO — The inbound Dan Ryan Expressway was closed at 71st Street on the city’s South Side early Sunday morning due to a fatal crash investigation.

Illinois State Police announced all lanes have been reopened as of approximately 8:15 a.m.

According to ISP, troopers responded to I-94 northbound at 71st St. for a single-vehicle crash at about 5 a.m. Sunday. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead, ISP says.

The 71st St. ramp was shut down for several hours after the crash.
