3 charged in murder of Chicago postal worker, mother of 3 in Orland Park: police

ORLAND PARK, Ill. — Three people have been charged in connection with the murder of a mother of three who worked as a mail carrier in Chicago.

Mechellea Williams, 28, was found shot and killed in her car on March 20 in the area of 17000 Pond Willow Drive in Orland Park. Officers were dispatched to the area for multiple reports of shots fired.

According to authorities, responding officers discovered a 2020 Nissan Maxima with multiple bullet holes parked on the side of the roadway. Williams was discovered inside the vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

After months of investigation, two men and a woman have been arrested and charged in connection to her death. Kiraun Williams, 29, is charged with first-degree murder, Tyshann Boyd, 28, is charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and Alexis Hernandez, 20, is charged with obstructing justice.

Williams worked as a mail carrier out of the US Postal Office on Dearborn Street in downtown Chicago.

Family said that she was a mother who poured herself into her three children — ages ten, six and ten-months-old — while also still finding time to care for others.
