Newlyweds win $3M on Illinois Lottery scratch-off ticket

CHICAGO — A newlywed couple is celebrating their marriage and a big lottery win.

The couple, who wishes to remain anonymous, bought an Illinois Lottery scratch off ticket that won them $3 million.

“I bought four Instant Tickets at my local convenience store and the last one that I scratched-off was the winning ticket!” the winner said. “I was definitely in shock but my wife’s reaction was total disbelief, and it remained that way until the day we claimed our prize.”

The $30 worth of tickets was purchased at Volume Liquors at 382 Northwest Highway in Cary, Illinois.

According to the Illinois Lottery, the couple married earlier this summer.

The winner said they plan to “save for the kids’ college funds” as well as retirement and also “go on more regular family vacations” with the winnings.
