MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. – Two people were injured in a shooting Friday night in Mount Prospect.

The Mount Prospect Police Department said just after 9:30 p.m. Friday, officers were sent to the 1700 block of Chariot Court to investigate a shots fired call.

When officers arrived, they found two men who had been shot. The victims were taken to the Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life threatening, according to investigators.

Police said the investigation revealed the men were in the parking lot of an apartment building when multiple suspects drove by in a white-colored SUV and began shooting at them. The suspects then drove off in the SUV.

Using license plate recognition cameras in the area, officers were able to identify the SUV and shared the SUV’s information with area police departments. Mount Prospect officers later learned another law enforcement agency found the SUV and took three suspects in the vehicle into custody after a pursuit. Two guns were also found inside the SUV, according to authorities.

The three suspects are facing possible charges related to the vehicle pursuit in the other jurisdiction, according to Mount Prospect police. The Mount Prospect Police Department said it is working with the law enforcement agency that took the three suspects into custody as the investigation continues.

The incident is believed to be gang related and was not a random act of violence.

At this time, no charges have been filed in connection with the shooting as the investigation continues.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Mount Prospect Police Department Investigations Section at 847-870-5654.
