CHICAGO — At least seven people were shot, two fatally, in six incidents around the city during a span of about five hours overnight, according to Chicago police.

Police say they have nobody in custody for any of the shootings as of early Sunday morning.

The first fatal shooting reported by police happened just before 1 a.m. Sunday in the 11500 block of South LaSalle Street, in the West Pullman neighborhood on Chicago’s Far South Side.

In that incident, police say, officers responding to the scene found a 38-year-old man who had been shot in the head on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say a witness told officers they observed a red two-door vehicle fleeing the scene.

The other fatal shooting reported by police happened just after 1:30 a.m. in the 4600 block of West Monroe Street, in the Austin neighborhood on the city’s West Side.

According to police, officers responding to the scene found a 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the back. That man was pronounced dead at the scene. In the same incident, police say a 34-year-old man was also shot and was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition.

Police say further investigation showed both men were shot by an unidentified male who then fled the scene on foot.

    — An unidentified man was found unresponsive by a concerned citizen driving in the 700 block of North Halsted Street, in River West, around 12:45 a.m.

Police responded to the scene and say the victim, who appeared to be between 20 and 30, was taken to an area hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head.

    — Just before 1:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of West Cullerton Street, in the Little Village neighborhood on the city’s Southwest Side, police say a 28-year-old man was walking outside, heard shots fired and felt that the side of his face had been hit.

The man sustained a graze wound, police say, and took himself to an area hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

    — In the 4400 block of South Wallace Street, in New City on the South Side, police say a 26-year-old man was standing outside around 3 a.m. when he was shot by someone driving by in an SUV.

Police say the man was shot in the foot and taken to an area hospital in good condition.
