DUPAGE COUNTY, Ill. — A convicted felon who refused to “snitch” against anyone who was still alive during a federal trial for the murder of rapper FBG Duck has been arrested again.

Rakeem Wilton, 28, is no stranger to law enforcement. He pled guilty to conspiracy to commit murder in an unrelated case in 2015 and was sentenced to eight years in prison, but only had to serve half that time. He has been repeatedly charged with being a felon in possession of a weapon since his release.

Wilton was awaiting trial on his most recent gun arrest in Cook County when he encountered police in west suburban Hinsdale just after 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 5. An officer pursued Wilton for driving erratically. Police body and dash camera video obtained by WGN Investigates shows Wilton speeding down leafy suburban streets before losing control and crashing into an embankment that blocked railroad tracks.

“He just threw something out the window,” an officer is heard saying on body camera video before a foot pursuit over the railroad tracks and into a residential yard ended with Wilton’s arrest. Police say they found a loaded .380 caliber Smith and Wesson near the car and a .40 caliber Springfield Armory pistol on the driver’s side floorboard.

Court records show Wilton has been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon at least three times in Cook County. Prosecutors dropped one case after they said a judge suppressed key evidence. Wilton was convicted in another gun case in 2013 and sentenced to one year in prison.

Cook County prosecutors said they asked a judge to detain Wilton pending trial after his most recent gun arrest in March, but Judge Tyria Walton released him with conditions.

Wilton was less than a mile into DuPage County on the day of his most recent arrest and he’s already facing a harsher consequence. DuPage County state’s attorney Bob Berlin charged Wilton with being an armed habitual criminal, a class X felony, and one count of unlawful use/possession of a weapon by a felon. A DuPage County judge ordered Wilton held until trial.

“The allegations that Mr. Wilton, a convicted felon, was illegally in possession of two loaded weapons in a quiet, residential area near two elementary schools, attempted to flee from police both in the Jeep and on foot and was found with open alcohol in the vehicle, are completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated in DuPage County,” Berlin said in a written statement.
