Person seriously injured after driving into Algonquin Walmart

ALGONQUIN, Ill. — A person was seriously injured after driving into an Algonquin Walmart early Tuesday morning.

Police believe a red sedan was traveling north on the rear access road for Algonquin Commons at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle crossed County Line Road and struck the southwest side of the Walmart Supercenter, according to police.

The vehicle and Walmart sustained significant damage.

The driver of the sedan was airlifted to a local trauma center in serious condition.

Police said although there were employees inside at the time working, no one else was injured.
