LAKE COUNTY, Ill. — A couple who’d won about $130,000 at an area casino was held up at gunpoint outside their home but the thieves didn’t get the money. The bag swiped from the victim’s hands contained their leftover dinner of steak and lobster.

Neither victim was injured in the February robbery, police said. But after months of investigation, one suspect, 27-year-old Marcell Britton, of Chicago, was arrested late last month. A second suspect, 34-year-old Aramie Kent, of Maywood, remains on the run, police said.

“Lengthy investigation that we made sure we had all the facts,” Fox Lake police Sgt. Rick Howell told WGN.

Authorities said the heist took place in the morning hours of February 10 by the men who followed the couple home after they won “a considerable amount of money” at the Rivers Casino in Des Plaines. The suspects were identified with the help of casino security and license plate-reading cameras, authorities said.

The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office charged both Britton and Kent with multiple felonies including armed robbery, aggravated robbery and robbery of a victim over 60 years of age, a statement from the Fox Lake Police Department said. Arrest warrants were issued Aug. 19 and Britton was arrested by Chicago police nine days later.

Anyone with information on Kent’s whereabouts is asked to contact their local police. Fox Lake police can be reached at 847-587-3100.
