    Troopers allegedly uncover more than 250 Lbs. of cocaine inside semi during search in northwest Indiana

    PORTER COUNTY, Ind. — Felony charges have been filed against a Canadian man after authorities said they uncovered more than 250 pounds of cocaine in his semi during a major drug bust in northwest Indiana this week.

    According to Indiana State Police, 49-year-old Naseeb Chisty, who is from Canada, has been charged with two felonies, including dealing cocaine and possession of cocaine.

    The charges stem from a drug bust that unfolded at around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, along I-94.

    Troopers said they stopped Chisty at the eastbound I-94 scales for a motor carrier violation. The scales are located about two miles east of State Road 49 in Porter County.

    After stopping Chisty, troopers said their K9 did a free air test and alerted them to Chisty’s semi.

    Following a search of the vehicle, troopers allegedly uncovered 123.9 kilos (around 273 pounds) of white powder. Troopers conducted a field test on the powder and said it came up positive for cocaine.

    Following the positive test, Chisty was taken into custody. He is currently being held at the Porter County Jail.
