WOLCOTTVILLE, Ind. (WANE) – The Noble County Coroner has identified a woman and three children who were found dead in a Wolcottville home Tuesday.

The coroner identified the woman as 32-year-old Rebecca Hughes and the children as 8-year-old Evelyn Newell, 6-year-old Allison Newell and 5-year-old Amelia Newell.

The Noble County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the cause and manner of death or a toxicology report.

Starting shortly before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, officers with the Wolcottville Police Department arrived at a house south of County Line Road – where Main Street becomes Kelly Street – for a welfare check.

That quickly evolved into a death investigation when police found a woman and three children dead in the home.

Crime scene tape blocked off the property as more authorities arrived at the scene.

Investigators do not believe there is a threat to the public.

The father of the three children started a GoFundMe Wednesday to raise money for funeral expenses.

Firefighters also responded to the scene, and Indiana State Police (ISP) were assisted by the Noble County Sheriff’s Office, the Noble County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Noble County Coroner’s Office.

ISP is still investigating the incident.
