Chicago temps took a plunge for the first full day of autumn; another soaking rain Tuesday

Not a drought buster, but much-needed rainfall fell for much of the area Sunday.

Official city totals—including a record rainfall for September 22nd at Midway eclipsing the old record of 1.09″ set back in 1965.

Monthly tallies still running less than half the typical rainfall by this point in the month.

A second soaking rain in less than 48 hours is likely for parts of the area as rainfall arrived in Tuesday’s predawn hours and likely to continue at times well into Tuesday afternoon and evening.
