LOMBARD, Ill. — A 2-year-old girl who went missing from a hotel in the western suburbs has been found safe, according to police

Lombard police held an active search after the child was reported missing around midnight Friday from the Extended Stay America Hotel, located at 260 East 22nd Street, near Yorktown Shopping Center Mall.

Earlier reports suggest the 2-year-old may have wandered out of her hotel room.

Police dogs were called to the scene, as well as divers, who spent hours Friday morning searching a nearby retention pond.

As of 7 a.m. Friday, police had confirmed the child was found and is safe. No further details have been provided.
