    Felony charge filed against teen accused of making online threats to students at Tinley Park middle school

    TINLEY PARK, Ill. — A 13-year-old boy accused of making online threats to students at a Tinley Park middle school is now facing a felony charge.

    According to Tinley Park police, the teen, who has not been named due to his age, has been charged with one felony count of disorderly conduct.

    Officers say the charge was handed down after the teen allegedly made threats against students at Virgil I. Grissom Middle School using a social media account that was not his on Saturday, Sept. 14.

    Following an investigation into the threats by Tinley Park police and the Kirby School District 140, authorities were able to identify the teen as the one who was allegedly making the threats.

    During their investigation, authorities learned that the teen, who is not a student at the school, was able to gain unauthorized access to a student’s social media account and then allegedly used it to make it appear as if the threats were coming from the student.

    The teen was charged on Thursday, following the investigation.
