CHICAGO – A mainstay of the Gold Coast restaurant scene is back!

Tavern on Rush has a new spot, a new look and a lot of happy customers.

While the restaurant’s legacy still continues on Bellevue and Rush, it has since moved to the Thompson Hotel.

After a two-year hiatus, Tavern on Rush welcomed customers back Monday afternoon, and the line outside reflected the excitement.

The longtime Gold Coast staple closed its original location in 2022 due to contractual matters with the building owner. The new space still preserves its classic feel from nearly 25 years, while showcasing a more modern and refined look.

The new location features two levels, including a main dining room, bar, cocktail lounge, outdoor patio and multiple rooms for private events.

Owner Phil Stefani told WGN News that despite the relocation, the inviting dining experience will remain a priority.

“It’s all about our customer base, man. If we take care of them, we’re done. We’re on the road to success,” Stefani said.

Stefani believes excellent hospitality is what kept them around for more than two decades.

For now, the restaurant will offer dinner service from 4 p.m. to midnight, with plans to extend hours in the coming weeks.
