    Man critically injured in robbery, shooting in South Shore

    CHICAGO — A man was critically injured after he was shot during an early-morning armed robbery on the city’s South Side on Friday.

    According to Chicago police, the incident unfolded just after 6:30 a.m. in the 7700 block of South Muskegon Avenue in South Shore.

    Officers said the victim, a 28-year-old man, was standing outside in the area when an SUV approached and an a person who was armed with a gun got out and began demanding the victim’s belongings.

    Officers said during the confrontation, the armed individual opened fire on the victim before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.

    Following the shooting, the victim was taken to the hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

    Authorities did not provide a description of the person responsible but said they are believed to have been a male of unknown age.

    An investigation into the shooting is now underway and authorities said no arrests have been made.
