    2 residents removed from Glendale Heights village board meeting after altercation

    GLENDALE HEIGHTS, Ill. — Officials from the Village of Glendale Heights said two residents were removed from Thursday’s village board meeting after one of them allegedly assaulted the other.

    A spokesperson for the village shared an update on Facebook on Friday afternoon detailing the incident.

    According to officials, the altercation broke out between two residents who were attending the regularly scheduled village board meeting, but the incident escalated and one of them allegedly physically assaulted the other.

    Following the altercation, officials said both individuals were seperated and removed from the meeting.

    The Village is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful environment at all public meetings, and we will continue to cooperate with law enforcement as they complete their investigation,” the village’s social media statement read in part. “We take incidents of violence seriously and ask that all residents, staff and elected officials conduct themselves with civility and respect.”

    It is unclear if any citations were issued and authorities said an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

    I lived in Glendale Heights in the 80s and early 90s. It was a nice community then.
