    Chicago woman arrested for deadly DUI crash involving pedestrian on Dan Ryan Expressway

    CHICAGO – A Chicago woman, who was driving under the influence of alcohol, was arrested for a deadly crash involving a pedestrian on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

    Illinois State Police said 47-year-old Ronne Watson was arrested for aggravated driving under the influence resulting in death.

    At around 1:34 a.m. Sunday, troopers responded to a report of a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle while walking on the Dan Ryan Expressway, I-94 northbound near 83rd Street. The suspect vehicle drove off and the pedestrian was pronounced dead, according to investigators.

    ISP said just after 1:45 a.m., the University of Chicago Police Department found the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop in the area of Hyde Park Boulevard and Woodlawn Avenue.

    The driver of the vehicle, identified as Watson, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. On Monday, Watson was charged with aggravated driving under the influence resulting in death.

    Watson is being held at the Riverdale Police Department until her pretrial hearing.
