PALATINE, Ill. – A man was arrested for assaulting two Palatine police officers over the weekend.

The Palatine Police Department said 31-year-old Luis Camacho was arrested Sunday and charged with four counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer, two counts of resisting a peace officer, two counts of domestic battery and one count of obstructing identification.

Shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to the 1400 block of Whispering Springs Court to investigate reports of a disturbance. Officers determined Camacho was responsible for domestic battery and told him he was under arrest. When officers tried to take Camacho into custody, he punched two officers in the face and spat on them, according to investigators.

Police said the officers sustained non-life threatening injuries and were treated and released on scene by the Palatine Fire Department.

Camacho, meanwhile, was brought to the Palatine Police Station.

On Monday, Camacho was transported to the Cook County 3rd District Courthouse in Rolling Meadows for a detention hearing. He was released with pre-trial conditions and his next court date is scheduled for Nov. 20 at 10:30 a.m.
