BERWYN, Ill. — Authorities say a man who allegedly struck four people, including two officers, during a police chase in the western suburbs last month is now facing felony charges.

Berwyn police said Terrance Whitley is facing a handful of felony charges in connection with the incident, including one count of failure to remain at the scene of a personal injury or fatal motor vehicle accident, two counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer and two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

Officers said the charges were handed down after Whitley was identified as the driver allegedly involved in a car chase that left several people injured over a month earlier.

According to police, at around 6 p.m. on Oct. 4, North Riverside police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a car, which was allegedly being driven by Whitley, near North Riverside Park Mall, but the driver ignored the officer and continued northbound along Harlem Avenue.

Officers said during the chase, the driver allegedly hit a 55-year-old man in the 2300 block of Harlem Avenue. The victim was later taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
