    Water shut off at suburban YWCA after confirmed cases of Legionnaires disease

    EVANSTON, Ill. — Two cases of Legionnaires disease have been confirmed by Evanston Health and Human Services. The people reported exposure at the YWCA at 1215 Church Avenue in Evanston.

    Legionella was found in some water systems at YWCA, which were confirmed through laboratory tests, HHS said Friday.

    Evanston HHS said Legionnaires disease is not contagious and cannot be transmitted from person to person.

    Evanston HHS said they have been working with the Illinois Department of Public Health and the YWCA Administrators.

    On Thursday, there YWCA conducted an emergency water shutoff. There is no expected time when the water will be turned on.
