Meridian Health Plan of Illinois helping to make sure area women receive mammograms

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Meridian Health Plan of Illinois is helping to make sure area women receive mammograms through a mobile community initiative called Mammogram Mondays.

Chaya Grant, care manager for Meridian Health Plan of Illinois, joins Jewell Hillery on the WGN Weekend Morning News to talk about it.

“We can eliminate not having access to care, because oftentimes that impacts women, where women are not able to actually get to their screening, they’re not able to know exactly how to navigate the system,” Grant says. “So we’re coming into the neighborhoods and into the communities so that women are able to achieve their screenings annually.”
