Woman dead after being shot while sitting in vehicle in McKinley Park

CHICAGO – A woman has died after being shot while sitting in her vehicle Sunday morning.

Chicago police said the shooting happened at around 9:20 a.m. in the 3800 block of South Damen Avenue in McKinley Park.

A 41-year-old woman was sitting in her vehicle when a man approached her, pulled out a gun, and shot her in the head and chest. The woman was taken to Stroger Hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to investigators.

The man ran off in an unknown direction and no arrests have been made.

Police said the man and woman knew each other and that the incident appears to be domestic in nature.
