Chicago police warn of armed robbers threatening victims with semi-automatic handguns

CHICAGO – Chicago police are warning the public about a group of robbers threatening their victims with a semi-automatic handgun.

Police said the suspects walk up to lone victims who are carrying a bag or purse. One of the suspects then pulls out a black semi-automatic handgun and demands the victim’s belongings.

The incidents happened at the following times and locations:

• 4000 block of N. Moody Ave on September 11, 2024 at 7:28 p.m.
• 4900 block of N. Rutherford Ave on September 11, 2024 at 7:42 p.m.
• 4600 block of N. Kedzie Ave on September 12, 2024 at 12:35 p.m.
• 3800 block of W. Diversey Ave on September 25, 2024 at 4:11 a.m.
• 2300 block of N. Kostner Ave on September 25, 2024 at 4:17 a.m.
• 6200 block of W. North Ave on October 08, 2024 at 10:34 a.m.
• 4400 block of W. Fullerton Ave on October 10, 2024 at 5:13 a.m.
• 3500 block of N. Hamlin Ave on October 10, 2024 at 5:25 a.m.
• 6800 block of W. Diversey Ave on October 10, 2024 at 6:44 a.m.
• 2700 block of N. Montclare Ave on October 10, 2024 at 6:45 a.m.
• 2100 block of N. Latrobe Ave on October 10, 2024 at 7 a.m.
• 2700 block of N. Normandy Ave on October 10, 2024 at 7 a.m.
• 5000 block of N. Belden Ave on October 10, 2024 at 7:04 a.m.
• 3700 block of W. Fullerton Ave on October 11, 2024 at 12:36 p.m.

The suspects are described as a group of about four individuals (males and females) between the ages of 17-30. They are about 5’05” to 5’10” and weigh anywhere from 100-200 pounds. The suspects also sometimes wear black ski masks, balaclavas or surgical masks, according to investigators.
