FOX LAKE, Ill. — A person has been taken into custody and a search continues for two others wanted in connection with a string of burglaries at smoke shops in Lake County.

Fox Lake police said arrest warrants were issued last week for 18-year-old Dave Guzman of Bloomingdale, 20-year-old Aiden Coburn-Dishler of Naperville, and 23-year-old Thomas Johnson of Glendale Heights for burglary, following an investigation into an early-morning break-in at Lucy’s Hydroponics in Fox Lake.

According to police, on July 31, just after 8 a.m. officers responded to a report of a broken glass door at the smoke shop. Officers later determined that the business had been burglarized and the thieves took off with several pieces of merchandise and the cash register.

Officers obtained security footage from the shop and determined that the burglary had occurred at 4:30 a.m., adding that the people responsible fled the scene in a white vehicle with no registration plates.

Fox Lake police said through collaboration with the Oakbrook Police Department and Mundelein Police Department, officers determined that the people responsible for the smoke shop burglary had also allegedly burglarized several other smoke shops throughout Lake County.

Officers said they were able to tie the three suspects to the alleged burglaries after license plate recognition cameras helped identify the white Cadillac sedan used in the burglaries. Cell phone location data also allegedly placed them at the location at the time of the crime.

Young kids from different areas altogether? Unless they’re placing Craigslist ads for ‘burglar assistant needed’- the only way they know each other is from a migrant shelter in Chicago.
