WARRENVILLE, Ill. — Rosati’s issued a statement Wednesday following an “overwhelming” response to a $3.50 pizza deal to celebrate its 60th anniversary.

Last Thursday, Rosati’s announced they were going to revert back to 1964 pricing Tuesday for the anniversary celebration and two-topping, large pizzas would be $3.50.

Several locations were participating, but not all of them and none in Chicago.

Rosati’s posted on social media at around 3:30 p.m. ending the promotion.

“Our 60th Anniversary 1964, price pizza promotion has come to an end. Your support has been both overwhelming and humbling,” the post reads . “If you missed it, don’t worry, there’s another anniversary promotion right around the corner.”

In the picture, they said a $0.64 breadstick deal is coming soon.

Many took to the social media post to comment negative experiences surrounding the deal. They said some online orders were never fulfilled after waiting for them and that stores listed in the promotion said they were not participating.

Others commented that they were able to get a pizza by online ordering early in the morning and thanked Rosati’s establishments for doing a good job.

Rosati’s CEO Jeff Rosati sent the following statement and said the company is reaching out to those who were unable to pick up their placed orders.

“The Rosati’s family and franchisees are grateful for the overwhelming response to the 60th Anniversary pizza promotion. Each participating location prepared thousands of promotional pizzas, with many already reaching maximum oven capacity by noon. Due to the long lines at some locations, some customers were unable to pick up their orders. Rosati’s deeply values its customers and is proactively reaching out to those affected to make good on its promise.”

The Parent Company came up with this promotion, but then didn't provide details about which locations were participating, were there limited hours. Ultimately, I believe this promotion has backfired because of a lack of planning and information. Their failure being that more regular customers got burned here, then new ones becoming regulars. Some people were just looking to get a pizza for free and weren't interested in anything else. 🙃

I got lucky and got my pizza order in just before they closed the online ordering. Got my pizza but not till nearly 8, ordered at 2pm for pickup ASAP. Only had to wait behind one person when I picked up though. I'm surprised they were surprised about the crazy amount of orders 🤔. Everything is so expensive these days you can't even get a frozen pizza for that price.
