PARK CITY, Ill. — A man who was struck and killed while crossing a street in Park City has been identified.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 53-year-old Steven Crockett of Waukegan.

According to authorities, police and fire departments responded to a report of a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on the 3200 block of Belvidere Road around 11:36 p.m. Saturday.

Upon arrival, officers found that a 2016 Honda traveling eastbound on Belvidere Road had struck Crockett. Police said he appeared to be crossing the street at the time of the crash.

Yeah, but crossing a busy street at close to midnight?! And no doubt victim wasn't wearing his luminescent safety vest. Not a smart move to expect a driver to see you. Could have easily waited until there was 100 yards between him and any vehicles before crossing!
