Motorcyclist killed in crash in Schaumburg

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. —A motorcyclist was killed and another driver was injured in a crash in the northwest suburbs on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Schaumburg police, the deadly crash unfolded just before 2 p.m. at the intersection of East Algonquin Road and Thoreau Drive North.

Officers did not provide details on what led up to the crash but said the motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The other driver involved in the crash suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

WGN’s SkyCam 9 was over the scene at around 4 p.m. when a damaged vehicle and a badly damaged motorcycle could be seen at the intersection.

Road closures remain in place in the area as authorities investigate the crash.

City officials are asking drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. It is unclear how long the closures will last.

Authorities have not yet identified the motorcyclist killed.
