A U.S. district judge on Wednesday sentenced Robin Reierson, now 70, to 18 months in prison and 36 months of supervised release. The Schiller Park resident must also pay $7,000 in restitution.

According to court documents, Reierson traveled to Washington, D.C., from his Chicago-area home to attend former President Donald Trump’s “Stop the Steal” rally. Prosecutors said Reierson made his way toward the U.S. Capitol building, chanting “Stop the Steal” with the crowd after the rally’s conclusion.

Once he encountered an established police line, prosecutors said that Reierson physically pushed against law enforcement officials using both of his hands and by lowering his shoulder into officers. Prosecutors add that Reierson also attempted to take hold of a Metropolitan Police Department officer’s baton.

Reierson eventually withdrew from the confrontation between rioters and officers. Still, as he left the West Plaza, he told other rioters, “Don’t stop, keep going” and “Put the cameras down, keep going.”

The FBI arrested Reierson in Illinois in August of 2023. He pled guilty to assaulting law enforcement officials in July of 2024.
