    Inmate at McHenry County Correctional Facility seriously injured after falling down stairs

    WOODSTOCK, Ill. — An inmate at the McHenry County Correctional Facility was seriously injured on Thursday morning after falling down a flight of stairs at the facility.

    According to officials from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the incident unfolded around 6:30 a.m. at the correctional facility, located in the 2200 block of North Seminary Avenue in Woodstock.

    Deputies said the inmate, whose name and age have not been released, fell down a flight of stairs inside the jail and no other inmates or corrections officers were near him at the time of the fall.

    Deputies said the inmate suffered serious injuries in the fall but was conscious and breathing when he was transported to Northwestern Woodstock Hospital.

    After arriving at Northwestern Woodstock, he was taken by helicopter to a second hospital.

    Currently, the extent of the inmate’s injuries is unclear, but authorities have referred to them as “serious.”
