BARTLETT, Ill. – Two Bartlett High School students were injured after being hit by a school bus during dismissal Friday afternoon.

Officials said at around 3:20 p.m., the Bartlett Police Department and Bartlett Fire Protection District were sent to Bartlett High School on West Schick Road to investigate reports of two students who were injured by a school bus during after school dismissal.

The preliminary investigation shows a male and female student were running alongside a school bus that was pulling into the bus lane when they both fell and were hit by the school bus, according to investigators.

Officials said the Bartlett Fire Protection District took both students to local area hospitals. Upon arrival, it was determined the female student’s injuries were life-threatening, prompting crews to airlift her to another hospital. The male student’s injuries, meanwhile, are non-life threatening.

The Bartlett Police Department is working with School District U-46 to investigate further.

I’ve come awfully close…seen this 2 other times. Hope the students are okay. The driver must be “shaken” up. Praying.
